Description

With its full range of weather instruments, Dyacon MS‑150TM is a meteorological station ready to go, right out of the box. The standard wind and air sensors are expanded with this weather station to include a rain gauge, submersible temperature probe, and solar sensor. This compilation provides a full range of measurement capability for amateur meteorologists.

MS‑150 features a versatile interface, allowing users to either connect to Weather Underground to receive weather reports on their cell phones via SMS text messages or to build their own charts with logged data. Either of these options can provide a rich, useable data set.

Like all Dyacon weather stations, MS‑150 includes all of the hardware to mount the weather station to a mast or flat surface. The rain gauge mounting kit is for use on the ground.

For even better performance and flexibility, users can opt to add the Tripod‑1, which provides a stable platform for mounting the weather station on a hilltop, in the backyard, or at a remote location. MS‑150 can also be connected to Modbus host controllers or industrial automation controllers, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs). (More about Modbus.)

Key Features

Basic Configuration
MS‑150TM is shipped with the control module, wind sensor (WSD‑1), air sensor (TPH‑1), solar module, rain gauge, solar sensor, submersible temperature probe, mounting hardware. The tripod option is recommended for easy of use and optimum sensor performance.

Construction
Weather Station MS‑150 uses Dyacon modules to build a solution that is unique, expandable, and flexible.

Brackets and hardware are included for mounting the components on ¾” to 2” pipe or flat surface. (Tripod sold separately.)

Separate wind and air sensors allow for instruments to be positioned at conventional elevations or as required by the application.

Wireless
The included Dyacon control module utilizes a cellular phone module for command and control as well as weather reports.

Barometric Pressure
A 24-bit ADC digital pressure sensor element has the capability to deliver 10 cm (+/- 1.5 mbar) resolution. Barometric pressure is contained in the TPH‑1 sensor.

Wired Data
The control module is equipped with both USB device and Modbus slave ports for connecting to data hosting equipment, such as PCs or programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Solar Power
A 10 W solar module powers the MS‑150 and charges an internal battery. The system is designed for 5 days of normal operation without solar input. An adaptive power algorithm extends critical operation for several more days.

Installation
Weather Station MS‑150 is designed to be installed and maintained by the user. Sensors shipped with the unit are pre-configured and tested prior to shipment. Full instructions are provided so that setup can be done without technical support.

Accessories
MS‑150 includes a 12 V output for the Smart-Fan aspirated air sensor, improving the temperature accuracy in sunny conditions.

Manuals & Software

Software

MS-100 weather station controllers (data logger), CM-1, may be configured using the LCD interface on the unit or with the software CMUtility. CMUtility is also used for downloading the data log. Control module configuration files may be saved and easily copied to other units using the USB port.
